After an NBA Hall of Fame career, Johnson became an entrepreneur, a philanthropist and a motivational speaker. Johnson also serves as chairman and founder of the Magic Johnson Foundation, where his unwavering commitment to transform Urban America continues through HIV/AIDS Awareness & Prevention Programs, Community Empowerment Centers, and the Taylor Michaels Scholarship Program. After an All-America college basketball career at Michigan State in which he led the Spartans to the 1979 NCAA championship, Johnson enjoyed a 13-year career with the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was a member of five championship teams and won the Most Valuable Player Award and the NBA Finals MVP Award three times each. He was a 12-time All-Star and a nine-time member of the All-NBA First Team. He won a gold medal with the original Dream Team at the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona. In 1996-97, Johnson was selected to the NBA’s 50th Anniversary All-Time Team. In 2002, he was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
